Who doesn’t love a good binge session? Here are some exciting series that will keep you glued to your seat.
THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF NEW YORK CITY S15
The Real Housewives of New York City’s cast includes fashion designer and style icon Jenna Lyons, Somali-Canadian model and businesswoman Ubah Hassan, content creator and lifestyle influencer Sai De Silva, serial entrepreneur Erin Lichy, fashion publicist Jessel Taank, and marketing and communications consultant Brynn Whitfield, with fashion designer and entrepreneur Rebecca Minkoff coming in as a friend of the Housewives this season.
This glamorous group of friends is flourishing – but things can change in a New York minute. When rumours start spreading among the ladies, only time will tell if longstanding loyalties are strong enough to weather the storm.
Rebooted with an all-new cast in 2023, The Real Housewives of New York City was nominated for a 2024 GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Reality Program. The arrival of art curator Racquel Chevremont makes history this season as the first time in the franchise’s history that a cast has included two openly gay women.
TULSA KING S2
After being released from prison after 25 years, New York mafia capo Dwight “The General” Manfredi is exiled to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Realising that his Mob family may not have his best interests in mind, Dwight sets out to establish a new criminal empire – in a place that might as well be another planet.
In his first TV lead role, Oscar nominee Sylvester Stallone (aka Rocky Balboa) stars as Manfredi – a role that’s already earned him a Critics Choice Super Awards nomination for Best Actor in an Action Series.
Created by Taylor Sheridan (Yellowstone), Tulsa King’s first season was nominated for an Emmy for its stunt coordination, as well as Best Action Series at the Critics Choice Super Awards. With a rare 100% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, Season 2 was up for Best Action/Thriller Series at the 2025 Saturn Awards, as voted by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films.
Season 2’s first episode became the most-watched global premiere ever on Paramount+, with Tulsa King ranking as a Nielsen Top 10 streaming title throughout its US run. Paramount+ has already ordered a third season.
Frank Grillo (Boss Level, Peacemaker) joins the cast this season as Kansas City Mob boss Bill Bevilaqua. Also look out for Critics Choice nominee Neal McDonough (DC’s Damien Darhk, and Marvel’s Dum Dum Dugan), Emmy winner Dana Delany (Katherine in Desperate Housewives), Emmy nominee Annabella Sciorra (Gloria Trillo in The Sopranos), and Stallone’s daughter, Scarlet Rose Stallone.
ANATOMY OF LIES
Grey’s Anatomy writer and co-executive producer Elisabeth Finch wowed Hollywood with her extraordinary life story – until one woman’s quest to discover the truth revealed a jaw-dropping web of lies.
Building on the shocking Vanity Fair exclusive, Anatomy of Lies is a three-part documentary series that gives audiences unique insight into a Hollywood dream that was simply too good to be true, and a scandal that engulfed one of the biggest and most beloved television shows of the past 20 years.
Anatomy of Lies has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. As Common Sense Media says, “For fans of Grey’s Anatomy, it’s particularly fascinating to see how Finch used her fabricated persona to create episodes inspired by the real stories of the people she manipulated. A story as dramatic and shocking as anything Finch wrote for TV, viewers will be left stunned by the real-life impact of her deceit and the devastating consequences it had on those around her.”
THE REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA S16 |
Fiercer than ever, The Real Housewives of Atlanta are upping the stakes of glamour, glitz and juicy drama as the show’s familiar faces meet some dynamic new Housewives ready to stir the pot and add some spice. With shocking revelations and a whirlwind of divorces, rumours, strained relationships and redefined alliances, will the ladies be able to keep things peachy in the A?
Businesswoman Porsha Williams is expanding her empire and living the life of her dreams – until she learns that everything isn’t as it seems. Drew Sidora is busier than ever with her music and film career taking off. The world is Shamea Morton’s oyster, and she’s ready to live it up. Innovator Brit Eady has carved out her own niche in the insurance industry. Chef extraordinaire Kelli Ferrell is big energy with a mix of culinary couture. Angela Oakley is a boss in every sense of the word, with her husband, basketball legend Charles Oakley, by her side.
Attorney and series alum Phaedra Parks makes her epic return later this season to turn up the fun – and the shade, while the legendary Cynthia Bailey is back in the ATL as a friend and is always ready to lighten the mood when tensions arise.
HAPPY FACE
When Melissa Jesperson-Moore was 15, she discovered that her father, Keith Hunter Jesperson, was the serial murderer known as the Happy Face Killer.
Happy Face centres on the now grown-up Melissa (Emmy nominee Annaleigh Ashford from Welcome to Chippendales). Her serial killer father (Emmy nominee Dennis Quaid from The Substance) forces his way back into her life after decades of no contact; the talk show she works for decides to run her story; and a possibly innocent man is set to be put to death for a crime her father may have committed.
Mashable calls the Paramount+ series “ruthlessly gripping,” saying, “True crime fans, your next TV obsession has arrived.”
Based on Jesperson-Moore’s podcast and autobiography, Happy Face is produced by four-time Emmy nominees Robert and Michelle King, the writer-creators of The Good Wife, The Good Fight, and Evil.
THE RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES S4
The Righteous Gemstones follows a world-famous but highly dysfunctional televangelist family with a long tradition of deviance, greed, and charitable work.
Returning cast includes creator Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down, Vice Principals), Emmy nominee Walton Goggins (The White Lotus), Edi Patterson (Knives Out), Teen Choice winner Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect), and Golden Globe winner John Goodman (The Big Lebowski, Roseanne). Emmy winner Megan Mullally (Karen in Will & Grace) and Seann William Scott (Stifler in American Pie) join the cast this season, with 12-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper guest starring as the first Gemstone in an episode-length flashback first episode.
With four Emmy nominations already and an 8.1 score on IMDb, The Righteous Gemstones was one of Variety’s “most anticipated” shows of 2025. The comedy hasn’t disappointed, with a 100% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes. As the critics’ consensus there says, “The Righteous Gemstones takes a bow with plenty of heavenly inspiration left in the tank, delivering a riotous final season that goes out on a holy high note.”
As RogerEbert.com put it, “The Righteous Gemstones is funny, wry, clever, disgusting, moving, shocking, and endearing in ways that are purely aspirational for most comedies on TV, and I’m sorry to say goodbye to it.”
POWER BOOK III: RAISING KANAN S4
Family makes you. The game defines you.
Kanan, Raq, and the rest of the Thomas family return for a new season of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, filling in the gaps leading up to the deadly showdown in the Season 3 finale.
Already renewed for a fifth season, Raising Kanan is a prequel to the smash-hit crime drama Power and stars Mekai Curtis as the young Kanan Stark (played in the original series by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who once again exec produces here).
As Kanan’s ruthless mother Raq, Tony Award winner Patina Miller picked up her second Black Reel Award nomination last year. She’s also been nominated twice at the Women’s Image Network Awards, where the show was nominated for Best Drama Series.
The Hollywood Reporter hails Miller for “one of TV’s most magnetic (and beautifully costumed) under-the-radar lead performances,” adding “Raising Kanan is both more narratively meticulous and emotionally grounded than a threequel/prequel crime drama spinoff has any right to be.”
SWAT S8
Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson and his elite tactical team Twenty Squad are back for the action-packed eighth season of SWAT.
Season 8 of the Emmy-nominated action drama is set to be the final season (though the show has been cancelled twice before – and pulled through both times). The LAPD’s Special Weapons and Tactics unit (aka SWAT) will have no time for drawn-out goodbyes though, as they face an explosive prison hostage situation, a blackout, a kidnapping close to home and a nuclear threat this season.
Co-created by Emmy nominee Shawn Ryan (The Shield), SWAT has been nominated for Critics Choice Super Awards for Best Action Series and Best Actor in an Action Series (for Emmy winner Shemar Moore, as Hondo), as well as four Emmys for its stunt coordination.
Annie Ngosi Ilonzeh (Emily Foster on Chicago Fire) joins the cast this season as Officer Devin Gamble, a controversial new SWAT recruit. Also look out for South African actor Stelio Savante as Omar Morina in Episode 12.
SUITS LA S1
NBC’s Suits was the most streamed series in the world in 2023, so it’s no surprise there’s now a spinoff from the original series creator, Aaron Korsh.
Teen Choice winner Stephen Amell (Arrow) stars in Suits LA as Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York who has reinvented himself as an entertainment lawyer in Hollywood.
Guest stars include Gabriel Macht as original Suits favourite Harvey Specter, in a multi-episode arc, as well as a host of celebs playing themselves, including Emmy winner Patton Oswalt, Maggie Grace (The Walking Dead) and Brian Baumgartner (The Office).
Calling Suits LA “appointment viewing”, Collider says the spinoff “raises the bar against a Hollywood backdrop” by “expanding on what made the original series great while setting itself apart.”
Showmax is also home to all nine seasons of the original Suits.
GROSSE POINT GARDEN SOCIETY
Grosse Point Garden Society follows four members of a suburban garden club who get entangled in a scandalous murder and are forced to bury the body – in their own well-manicured flower beds.
In this juicy drama from the creators of Good Girls, everyone’s got dirt … but some secrets never stay buried.
The cast is led by Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s Amy Santiago), Emmy nominee Aja Naomi King (Lessons in Chemistry, How to Get Away with Murder), Critics Choice nominee AnnaSophia Robb (The Way Way Back, Dr. Death), and Ben Rappaport (Carey in The Good Wife).
Daily Beast calls Grosse Point Garden Society “a spiritual sequel to Desperate Housewives cross-pollinated with Big Little Lies.”
THE LAST OF US S2
Season 2 of The Last of Us is currently the most popular series globally on IMDb.
The first season of the post-apocalyptic Playstation game was HBO’s most popular new show since House of the Dragon and went on to win seven Critics Choice Super Awards and eight Emmys.
Season 2 is living up to those sky-high expectations, with a 95% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
New cast members include Oscar nominee Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction, Westworld), Emmy winner Catherine O’Hara (Schitt’s Creek), Emmy nominees Kaitlyn Dever (Unbelievable) and Young Mazino (Beef), and Ariela Barer, Danny Ramirez, Isabela Merced and Tati Gabrielle, four of IMDb’s Top Stars to Watch in 2025. Just don’t get too attached to anyone; no one is safe in this show…
THE HANDMAID’S TALE S6
In the sixth and final season of The Handmaid’s Tale, June’s unyielding spirit and determination pull her back into the fight to take down Gilead.
Elisabeth Moss returns to her Emmy-winning role as June, alongside fellow Emmy winners Ann Dowd, Bradley Whitford, and Samira Wiley, and Emmy nominees Yvonne Strahovski, Max Minghella, O-T Fagbenle, and Madeline Brewer. Emmy nominee Josh Charles (The Good Wife’s Will Gardner) joins the cast this season.
The first five seasons won 15 Emmys. S6 is living up the hype with a 94% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with MSNBC billing it as “more relevant than ever.”
SUMMERTIDE
Summertide follows Martin Field (SAFTA nominee Frank Rautenbach from Lioness), a marine biologist who relocates to Simon’s Town with his two teenagers, Lucy and Tristan.
The stacked cast includes SAFTA nominee Monique Rockman (Gaia) as a Michelin starred chef; Fleur du Cap nominee Andre Jacobs and three-time Fleur du Cap winner Terry Norton as Martin’s parents; and Tyrone Keogh (The Girl from St. Agnes) as his brother.
The M-Net family drama is produced by Corné and René van Rooyen through Red Letter Day Pictures (kykNET hit Alles Malan, South African Oscar entry Toorbos).
IOL’s Debashine Thangevelo says, “Summertide is a brilliantly cast family drama that mindfully deals with loss, love and hope… If you are a fan of family dramas like This is Us, A Million Little Things or Brothers & Sisters, the series will leave you in your feels.”
YELLOWJACKETS S3
Yellowjackets follows a team of wildly talented high school girls’ soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. Equal parts survival, epic psychological horror and coming-of-age drama, the series chronicles their descent from a complicated yet thriving team to savage clans – while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later. It proves that the past is never really the past and what began in the wilderness is far from over.
Season 3 was the most-watched Yellowjackets season yet, with the finale becoming the most-streamed episode in the series ever. Yellowjackets is now the second most-streamed global Showtime original ever, behind only Dexter: Original Sin.
Yellowjackets stars Emmy nominee and Critics Choice winner Melanie Lynskey, Emmy nominees Christina Ricci and Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Thatcher, Tawny Cypress, Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Warren Kole, Sarah Desjardins and Simone Kessell, with Elijah Wood in a recurring role. Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank guest stars this season along with Emmy nominee Joel McHale (Community).
